Hello All!! I thought the perfect place to start would be by sharing my quick daily makeup routine for the days I wear makeup. Like most people I do not wear makeup on a daily basis and a lot of the time when I do it isn’t full glam. This is a fairly natural looking finish with not too many products involved; perfect for everyday!
Starting off, I am a believer in primer. I think it really smooths out my pores and helps with any texture that might be on my face. For an affordable everyday primer I use Revlon PhotoReady Pore Reducing Primer. It has a very velvety feel and makes my larger pores just disappear; it even looks nice without any other makeup on.
For foundation I have gone through many different kinds. My old favorite was the Stick Foundation by Anastasia Beverly Hills in Honey. That just went on so smoothly and it was a great coverage without using too much. However, recently I have gravitated towards Wet’n’Wild Photo Focus in Golden Beige. This foundation has a very light feel and blends flawlessly with a medium coverage. I blend it out with a BH cosmetics buffing brush and it creates an airbrush finish. There are also an amazing amount of shades for only $5 a bottle.
I forgot to include a picture but my favorite concealer by far is of course Tarte Shape Tape in Fair. I push that in with a real techniques miracle complexion sponge. This concealer has the best coverage I have ever seen and one tube lasts forever! I put it under my eyes, on the middle of my forehead, the bridge of my nose, and on my chin and this just gives more dimension to my face. If you are looking for a cheaper one I would recommend the Wet’n’Wild Photo Focus concealer because it has a very similar consistency. The only problem I have with this concealer is creasing if I do not put powder on right away. But with powder applied it really does last all day.
For powder I have recently been loving the Cargo HD Pressed Powder. I use the translucent shade and it just keeps my entire face at a natural finish, not too matte and not too dewy. I apply this powder over my entire face since when I am not doing full glam I don’t use a different powder for concealer spots. For application I normally just use a large fluffy powder brush by Morphe.
Naturally the next step is contouring and/or bronzer. When I am just doing everyday makeup I only do bronzer. I put the Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer in the E and 3 (outer edges of forehead, under cheek bones, and on jaw bone) shapes on the edges of my face with a tapered powder brush. This helps bring some softer sculpting and dimension to my face as well as just warms up my skin a bit. Along with this I then brush on some Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush in Paaarty on the apples of my cheeks to bring even more life and color in.
Highlighter, the funnest part of the makeup routine and everyone’s obsession comes next. I tried out Essence Pure Nude Highlight in be my highlight on the recommendation of Kathleen Lights and I absolutely love it!! You definitely need to have a more medium or tan skin tone to have it blend in but if you do it is the most natural looking highlight I have ever seen while still being beautifully blinding. I normally like a very glowing look so I dust this on my cheekbones, chin, cupids box, brow bones, and bridge of nose.
Moving on to the final aspects of the makeup. Instead of eyeshadow I simply use a darker bronzer and brush it into the crease of my eyelid with a crease brush in order to create depth. I normally use Two Faced Chocolate Soleil bronzer for this because it has a very warm undertone. I then will use my favorite mascara at the time, since it is always changing, and coat my top and bottom lashes just once to keep it natural. Recently I have been using a more expensive mascara, Make Up Forever Excessive Lash, but it has a great finish and a great color. Lastly, I use whatever lip color I feel like that day. For this I used the e.l.f. Matte Lip Crayon in Cranberry because it went very well with the season.
Many will realize that I did skip eyebrows and that is because I have mine tinted and on normal makeup days that seems like enough color and shape for me. I will explain my eyebrow routine in a future post and will always discuss it in full glam posts as well. I hope you enjoyed my quick everyday makeup routine!! Please leave comments on what you would like to hear next since I will be doing a blog post everyday Monday-Friday. I also post on Instagram daily (@alexyss.mua) and post on youtube twice weekly (Alexyss MUA) on Wednesday and Sundays. So please follow, subscribe, like, and comment, I appreciate it all!!!
